Completed: Daemon Prince of Nurgle (Classic Great Unclean One)

In the grimmest and most grotesque parts of the Mortal Realms, where the forces of Chaos wage eternal war against the forces of Order, stands a figure of unfathomable decay and corruption—a Daemon Prince of Nurgle.

The Daemon Prince of Nurgle is a monstrous embodiment of disease, rot, and decay, a true manifestation of the Plague God’s twisted blessings. Towering over mortal beings, its form is a grotesque amalgamation of putrid flesh, swollen with pustules and weeping sores. Its once-human features contort into a monstrous visage, with bulbous, pus-filled eyes and a mouth twisted into a perpetual grin of perverse joy.

This foul entity radiates an aura of pestilence and decay, its mere presence suffusing the air with a sickening stench that heralds its arrival. Its body is a canvas of corruption, where vile diseases crawl and writhe beneath its bloated, mottled skin. Maggots and other repugnant creatures squirm within its flesh, perpetuating the cycle of rot and rebirth that defines the Plague God’s domain.

The Daemon Prince of Nurgle wields formidable power, its touch capable of spreading virulent plagues and festering diseases with a mere graze. It can summon forth swarms of Nurglings, grotesque and jovial daemonic creatures that revel in the spreading of sickness. And through its sheer force of will, it can twist reality itself, causing the very ground to decay and wither, transforming fertile fields into desolate wastelands of pestilence.

Yet, beneath its repulsive exterior lies a paradoxical aspect of Nurgle’s realm—a perverse sense of joviality and contentment. This Daemon Prince finds delight in the cycle of life and death, reveling in the decay and rebirth it brings. Its laughter echoes with a sickening glee as it witnesses the suffering and transformation of mortals into twisted worshippers of Nurgle, believing that through suffering, one can achieve enlightenment and a warped sense of euphoria.

The Daemon Prince of Nurgle stands as a terrifying testament to the all-consuming nature of chaos. It embodies the morbid fascination with decay, the grotesque beauty hidden within the abominable, and the relentless pursuit of spreading disease and corruption. It is a nightmarish entity that strikes terror into the hearts of those who oppose it, a reminder of the unyielding power and insidious allure of the Plague God Nurgle.

The converted, Nurgle-marked Slaves to Darkness army continues to be very much a back burner project, but I’ve made a bit of progress in the form of another Daemon Prince. Do I need 2? Nope. Will there probably be more? Yep!

The model is an old, metal Great Unclean One. The old model holds up pretty well, but is obviously a lot smaller than the newer, plastic one. Because my Daemon Prince wants to fly, I needed some wings, so chucked on the ruined, little wings from the Chaos Spawn kit. Here he is in all his… glory:

I’m pretty happy with how he turned out. I think it’ll be a while before I do more minis from this army, but yeah, looking good! I hope he plays well with his brother.
