Resolutions 2026: May Roundup

It’s one thing to set resolutions, and quite another to hold oneself to them.  I intend to review my progress monthly toward each of the resolutions.  Welcome, then, to our roundup for May 2026.  Let’s start with a reminder of where we got to last month:

Now, let’s take a look at what sort of progress was made in May.

May Roundup: Painting

It’s been a very quiet month on the painting front. No new miniatures were completed. Not much hobby work was done at all, actually. I suppose I did manage to clean up a few prints.

With no additions to make, here were the totals for the end of last month:

  • Purchased: 0
  • Painted: 58

This goal is still doable, though I’m starting to feel that time is creeping on. The goal that’s perhaps looking less doable is the one about our club painting challenges. These seem to have fallen apart a bit this year, and I’m starting to doubt there will be 6 to enter. We’ll see.

May Roundup: Gaming

The goal for this year, as with last year, is to play 30 different games. Here are the games played up to the start of this month:

  1. Magic: the Gathering (Commander)
  2. Dungeons & Dragons
  3. Viscounts of the West Kingdom
  4. Burrows & Badgers
  5. Apiary
  6. Age of Sigmar
  7. Sagrada
  8. Scout
  9. Escape the Dark Sector
  10. Isle of Skye
  11. Century: Golem Edition
  12. Escape from Tiddles Tower
  13. New York Zoo

This month, I am adding a couple more games to the list:

Lots of games this month, but not many new ones. We had more Commander on the go, more Isle of Skye, more Century, more Sagrada, more Burrows & Badgers… good stuff!

We did get Endangered Orphans: House of Rath to table for the first time this year. It’s a fun game. I like it a lot. I also did pretty well, winning one of the games. It got pretty cutthroat, but that’s what you want.

I also got to break out Arcane Academy for the first time this year:

It’s a simple game with a lot going for it. It’s also a game that’s really quick to teach, which is always a big selling point.

At work, we ran a set of activity days, which included a few slots for Dungeons & Dragons. It was fun to run these games. They went well. I went, as usual, with a horror theme; it’s my preferred way to play. It went down very well with the players, most of whom were completely new to the game.

A fantastic month of gaming! Let’s keep it rollin’!

May Roundup: Writing

With a mix of short and long posts, I once again managed a couple of posts over my goal of one per day. That total includes 9 new reviews:

Still got a fair few reviews sitting in the queue, waiting to be posted; though most of the finished ones are reviews of each season of My Hero Academia…

Here were my other wordier posts for May:

I’ve got a few books in the review queue that I need to get to. I’ve also been back into anime, and there will be reviews that reflect this.
