It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases a new Codex for the Space Marines – Is it really a new edition of Warhammer 40,000 until the Space Marines Codex comes out? I’d say not. Here comes the book for 11th edition:

Look, it’s the Space Marines Codex. It’s gonna sell. I’m probably going to grab one to plan out a new army, myself. I’m thinking White Scars for me.

Edition Spielwise to release MicroMacro Kids 2: Wild Wild Weekend – This is the next child‑friendly entry in the MicroMacro line. It keeps the big hidden‑picture map and cooperative detective play, but with 22 brand‑new, age‑appropriate cases built around simple rules and short sessions.

This sequel leans into playful mysteries, including Bigfoot sightings, missing treasure, odd arrows in hats… all solved by scanning the sprawling illustration, following clues, and tracking suspects as a team. It also adds a new “zoom in” feature for certain cases, giving kids fresh ways to explore scenes while keeping everything violence‑free and accessible.

Wizards of the Coast to release World of Warcraft setting for Dungeons & Dragons – I really like the Warcraft setting. I grew up with it, and it was formative in a lot of ways. I love many of the characters and just feel that it’s such a solid, well-developed fantasy world. It’s great to see it coming to D&D.

We’ve previously reviewed fan-made supplements, so I’m keen to see what will come from an official partnership. I’m especially keen, actually, to see what artwork comes out of this. Blizzard and Wizards of the Coast are both companies that produce huge amounts of truly amazing art, and I can’t wait to see what comes along with this release.

Onyx Path releases At The Gates – There have been a whole bunch of RPGs released over the last few years that seek to emulate the feel of classic console JRPGs. You know, the whole Final Fantasy vibe. At The Gates is Onyx Path’s offering in this vein.

I really like the StoryPath system, so this does appeal to me. I do intend to run a JRPG-style campaign at some point, but with so many choices for different systems, I’m not quite sure where to start. I’ll need to check this one out as an option.

Themeborne Ltd to release a second edition of Escape the Dark Castle – I didn’t play the first edition of Escape the Dark Castle, but I did play the sci-fi version, Escape the Dark Sector, so I do understand how this game works.

This game is based on the second edition of the underlying system, so it uses the newer rules that aim to minimise some of the randomness in favour of a more coherent, roguelike, narrative experience. I love the idea of this game being set in some gnarly, twisted woods with new rules for fear and darkness. I’m looking forward to my copy arriving!

Blog Posts & Articles
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Fallout Factions: Battle for Boston Starter Set Review @ Sprues & Brews – The original Fallout Factions box was cool, and I really enjoyed painting some of the miniatures. This newer set looks way better, though. It just feels more… Fallout. It’s got factions that are more central to the setting/franchise, and it’s just that much less niche than the offerings in the older box.
Orky Delorian @ A Loft Full of Lead – This is a great mini. There are so many cool Orky STLs out there. If and when I get around to doing my orks, I’m gonna grab all the cool, random stuff!
Commander Bites: Choco, Seeker of Paradise @ J.M. Casual – Sharing some basic Choco deck tech? Really? Do you want me to build a bird deck? Because this is how you get bird decks.
Kaius Konorius Patriarchs of Ulixis Alternative Colour Scheme and Contrast Recipe Card @ Vincent Knotley — How Knot To Paint – I can’t say that this is a Space Marines chapter with which I am familiar, but I love the vibrance of that red. Gorgeous, as always from Vincent Knotley.
Dude, where’s my mana: The Reality Fracture Pre-release @ The Kind GM – This sounds fun. I’ve never gone to a pre-release event. There’s one place near me that does them, but I’ve not yet felt especially compelled to head along. It does sound like it would be interesting, though.

There have been a few posts since my last 5 on Friday:
- A Skullforge STL bundle
- September’s Game of the Month
- A Doctor Who-themed Magic Monday
- Looking at some posts from the other blog
- WiP Wednesday
- A Nurgle-themed Throwback Thursday
Since the last 5 on Friday, we’ve added no new painted miniatures, but have purchased 39 new Necron minis. This pretty much wipes out the lead I had. Oh. well…

Catch you next Friday!
