5 on Friday 06/11/26

It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.

Releases & Previews

Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:

Games Workshop releases the Underhive Journal for House Orlock – The new edition of Necromunda seems to have gone down pretty well with players. It’s very much an evolution or refinement of the game, with a lot of little quality-of-life improvements. The gang books are now rolling out:

I need to get my Delaque built. I always overthink and worry about the composition, but I just need to get over it and start slinging some glue. There’s certainly plenty of interest in the game at club to justify the time.

Chaosium releases the Keeper Companion for Call of Cthulhu – I do love Call of Cthulhu. I ran a really fun game of it last Thursday, actually. Here’s a new supplement:

This book has a whole bunch of new rules, plenty of tips for Keepers, and a few scenarios. It seems to be a fun toolbox for Keepers, with rules and elements that can be incorporated into your games in modular fashion. .

Cephalofair Games to release a Gloomhaven RPG – Gloomhaven is a massive dungeon crawl board game with RPG elements. Now, Cephalophair Games is looking to put out a straight-up Gloomhaven roleplaying game:

I don’t know a huge amount about it yet, other than the fact it uses cards instead of dice. I daresay it will use a lot of the character classes from the board game, and be quite focused on dungeon crawling and episodic adventuring. But then, that’s just my speculation.

Brotherwise Games releases a Mistborn starter set for their Cosmere roleplaying Game – I know nothing of the works of Brandon Sanderson, other than the fact that he has quite a following. This RPG is based on his epic fantasy universe:

As a starter set, this is, of course, built as a jumping-on point for the game. It includes starter rules, maps and tokens, pre-gen characters, printable cards, and quick reference sheets. As usual, the full rules will be in a separate, bigger core book, but this set will give you a simple, ready-to-play set of adventures and, indeed, adventurers.

Succubus Publishing releases Last Arc: Tactics Analogue – Rules Cyclopedia – There’s a spate of JRPG-themed tabletop RPGs over the past few years. I am all for this trend. All for it.

What caught my attention was the beautiful artwork. It’s stunning, and the previews on the DTRPG page show more of it. Beautiful. This is a game I need to really look into, as the store page really has me sold on it.

Blog Posts & Articles

The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:

November 2026 Reading plans @ Wordaholic Anonymous – Right, The Wicked and the Warped looks good, but I need to get around to reading The Infinite and The Devine first! I love 40K and am playing Necrons (including Orikan), so I need to get to it.

Top 25 Selling Board Games in 2005, 2015 & 2025 @ The Sentry Box – Interesting! There’s a lot that can be broken down in these lists, and I might have a go at it at some point. Briefly though, it’s interesting the impact of price and accessibility, with simple, small games being top of the most recent list.

Commander Bites: Captain Jean-Luc Picard @ J.M. Casual – A timely post about Picard, no doubt times as a tribute to the late Patrick Stewart. A fun post.

October 2026 retrospective @ Spalanz – Looks like a good month. I struggle to paint board game miniatures. I just can’t motivate myself in the same way I do for miniatures games. Maybe if it were a game I was regularly playing, I’d feel different.

Book Review: First and Only (by Dan Abnett) @ Through the Shattered Lens – I read this book about 25 years ago. It was really good, but for some reason I didn’t dip into the wider series. It might be worth a return.

Catch you next Friday!

  1. The Cthulhu Companion grabs my attention… and I’m really interested in the Gloomhaven RPG, as I’ve been playing the board game for much of this year. I can’t see my actually running a new RPG, but you never know!
