It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for a little digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
They are in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
16 Gateway Games That Aren’t The Big Three @ Tabletop Tribe – There are loads of interesting articles about Gateway Games – I’ve written a few myself – but this article covers not only a lot of them, but also includes some really different suggestions. It says there are 16 games, but each one then also comes with an alternative suggestion, so this really is an exhaustive list. Mansions of Madness 2nd Edition, though? Hmm, maybe…
Physical Books or PDFs? Which to Use at the Gaming Table @ Goluptious Geek Blog – I’ve written previously on this myself, but it’s an interesting topic and it’s cool to read different approaches. The author considers the questions of price, practicality and whether or not having an electronic device at the table is more of a help or a hindrance. Nice, concise read.
X-Wing Ships: The TIE Interceptor @ ubermunchkin – Cool tactical article on one of my favourite ships for X-Wing. It looks at the movement dial, the strengths of the ship, available pilots and some of the cards that could be used with it. As someone who is very much a ‘casual’ when it comes to X-Wing, this article hits the right balance of tactics and concision, being interesting and useful, but not overly detailed or inaccessible.
‘London Bridge is down’: the secret plan for the days after the Queen’s death? @ The Grauniad – Not game related, but an utterly fascinating read, not only on the protocols and arrangements around a royal death, but also on the expected psychological and political impact of the Q-Unit’s eventual demise. Utterly fascinating, detailed, in-depth article.
Sukubus Valkyries @ CrystalMCDoll – Blood Bowl is, simply put, a fantastic game. I love seeing people’s well-painted fantasy football teams and this is a cool one. I had not seen the models before, but I really like them and will have to check out Sukubus Studios. The paint job is cool as well, though I’d have really liked to have seen a full team shot. Guid job!
See you next week!
