Resolutions 2026: September Roundup

It’s one thing to set resolutions, and quite another to hold oneself to them.  I intend to review my progress monthly toward each of the resolutions.  Welcome, then, to our roundup for September 2026.  Let’s start with a reminder of where we got to last month:

Now, let’s take a look at what sort of progress was made in September.

September Roundup: Painting

I only finished a few miniatures this month. First up, we’ve got this lovely, new version of Festus the Leechlord:

I’m actually pretty happy with how he turned out. I’m less delighted with my Sloven Knights, but they should be done soon.

Next up, I turned my attention back to my necrons, starting with Orikan the Diviner to lead a 1,000 point force for a doubles event at club:

He feels oddly proportioned when placed in a unit. He’s just a little too big, I think. Still, I’m happy with how he came out!

Next up was a trio of Lokhust Heavy Destroyers:

These turned out well! I’m really happy with them.

So, before the start of the month, our totals for the year were as follows:

  • Purchased: 80
  • Painted: 125

I had finally eliminated the deficit! And then I go and ruin it…

  • Purchased: 47
  • Painted: 5

These were mostly more Necrons. Oh, well. That leaves our totals for the year at:

  • Purchased: 127
  • Painted: 130

We’re still in the positive!

September Roundup: Gaming

The goal for this year, as with last year, is to play 30 different games. Here are the games played up to the start of this month:

  1. Magic: the Gathering (Commander)
  2. Dungeons & Dragons
  3. Viscounts of the West Kingdom
  4. Burrows & Badgers
  5. Apiary
  6. Age of Sigmar
  7. Sagrada
  8. Scout
  9. Escape the Dark Sector
  10. Isle of Skye
  11. Century: Golem Edition
  12. Escape from Tiddles Tower
  13. New York Zoo
  14. Endangered Orphans: House of Rath
  15. Arcane Academy
  16. Root
  17. Tiny Towns
  18. Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition
  19. Black Ops: Tactical Espionage Wargaming
  20. Heat
  21. Quadropolis
  22. A Game of Thrones (2nd Ed.)
  23. Dixit
  24. Monster Eater
  25. Fire Nation Rising
  26. River Valley Glassworks
  27. Mutant: Year Zero
  28. Wyrmspan
  29. DC Comics Deckbuilding Game

This month, I am adding a few more games to the list:

  • Warhammer 40,000
  • Quoridor
  • Cartographers Heroes

Oh, hey! I’ve passed my goal of 30 games! Fantastic. The game that pushed me over the edge was Warhammer 40,000. It’s a game I’ve not played in a few years, and it was good to break out the ol’ Necrons.

I got 2 games in in September, and am enjoying it so far.

I’ve played a lot more Wyrmspan this month, having first played it in August. It continues to be a really good game, and I wrote it up as a Game of the Month review. I just love the surprisingly quick pace of the game, and the sandboxy nature of any game that gives lots of different paths that can take you to victory.

I also had a good time with a bunch of other games. Lots of River Valley Glassworks. Lots of Isle of Skye. Lots of New York Zoo. Cartographers was a lot of fun. I didn’t like it when I first tried it a couple of years ago, but now I’m not sure why. I had a lot of fun losing at that game. I’ve played a whole bunch of games this month. Yeah very varied.

September Roundup: Writing

This month sees a couple of new reviews added to the tally:

We did post a few other wordy posts:

A quiet month, really.
