Completed: Rockgut Troggoths (Also a Pic of a Dankhold Troggoth!)

As I plod on with the Troggoth army, I passed a little milestone last night. I finished my last 6 Rockgut Troggoths!

This felt good. I’d completed my previous 12 Rockguts a good while ago, back in July of 2021. I took a few quick snaps of them on my desk and chucked them into the gallery page:

I wasn’t really planning to add any more Rockguts at the time. I felt that 12 was probably enough. The thing is, that relied on my using a few things in my army that I wasn’t super happy with. To meet 2,000 points I was looking at bringing in Mollog from Warhammer Underworlds. I’m just not so jazzed about that. I remember when he was doing very well in Underworlds, but I just don’t like him so much in Age in Sigmar.

It also meant using the Troggoth Hag. I like the Hag. I painted the Hag. The problem is that the Hag is massively, massively overcosted. She was a hard sell before she cost over 400 points, and is harder still now that she’s crossed that threshold.

So… What was I to do? More Troggs! I added 6 Rockgut Troggoths to a total of 18 and 3 more Fellwaters to a total of 9. I’ve not got the Fellwaters done yet, but I’ll get to them next. In the meantime, it was time to catch some snaps of the newly-finished Rockguts:

I also took the opportunity to take a picture of another unit from the Troggoths that I never got a good photo of before, the Dankhold Troggoth. He’s not that good in-game, unfortunately, and I don’t know that he’ll see a whole lot of play, but he’s a very pretty lad:

I have added the new pictures to the Gloomspite Gitz gallery page, replacing the rougher pics that were already there.

In terms of units still to do for this army, I have:

• Dankhold Troggboss
• 9 Fellwater Troggoths
• 3 Rippas Snarlfangs (not Troggoths, but handy unit)
• 1 Fungoid Shaman (most survivable unit in my army to date)
• Allied Breaka Boss on Mirebrute Troggoth (via Orruk Warclans)
• Allied Marshcrawla Sloggoth (via Orruk Warclans)

The focus will be first on the units from the Gloomspite Gitz. Once I get them done, I’ll have reached my little target of 2,000 points. The two Orruk/Kruleboyz units will be a great addition, though. The Sloggoth is a buffing machine and the Breaka Boss puts out decent damage and is a much-needed source of orders for the other Troggs in an army with no “Elite” status or unit champions.
