It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases a new Ork codex for Warhammer 40,000 – Orks! Orks! Orks! The lads is back! Even though this puts them in very real danger or being the victim of power creep over the course of this edition, it is cool to see the Orks take centre stage from the beginning of 11th!

The new book seems fun and strong, and the new miniatures are fantastic, if noticeably more expensive than what came before. I’ll start work on some Orks at some point. I do have a couple of Armageddon sits sitting as a starting point…

Marvel releases Secret Wars expansion for their Multiverse Role-Playing Game – I suppose it’s not that surprising, as we head towards the release of Avengers: Doomsday, that we see a new Multiverse supplement featuring Dr. Doom on the cover. Brand synergy, yo!

This expansion takes the action to Battleworld, under the watchful eyes of Dr Doom. There’s a particular focus on the Fantastic Four and the Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as more material on handling particularly powerful characters.

Themeborne Ltd to release Escape the Dark Forest – As I mentioned last week when we looked at the upcoming second edition of Escape the Dark Castle, I really like this system. I actually went and chucked in a late pledge for both Escape the Dark Castle and this new game, Escape the Dark Forest.

This game is based on the second edition of the underlying system, so it uses the newer rules that aim to minimise some of the randomness in favour of a more coherent, roguelike, narrative experience. I love the idea of this game being set in some gnarly, twisted woods with new rules for fear and darkness. I’m looking forward to my copy arriving!

BANDAI is taking preorders on Gundam Assemble Starter Set 01 (ST01) – Oh, this is a big release! I’ve got folk at club who will be all over this. The Gundam Assemble Starter Set 01 (ST01) is the perfect on‑ramp into Bandai’s new tactical minis game, pairing iconic mobile suits with streamlined rules and everything two players need to hit the table fast. It’s a tight, accessible launch box that shows off the system’s fast turns, crisp sculpts, and classic Universal Century flavour.

With pre‑assembled units, scenario play, and a ruleset built for quick, decisive skirmishes, ST01 delivers a complete head‑to‑head experience straight out of the box. It’s a sharp starter for anyone wanting to dive into Gundam tabletop battles without a huge amount of hobby overhead.

Modiphius releases a New Vegas Setting Guide for their Fallout RPG – New Vegas is a fan-favourite among Fallout fans. I’m actually surprised it’s taken this long for Modiphius to adapt it for their roleplaying game:

This supplement contains a bunch of new options for creating your character and plenty of content about the Mojave desert in which to play. I’m sure lots of fans will have already been playing in this corner of the setting, but it’s great to give some additional support and content to those wanting to explore.

Blog Posts & Articles
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Painting – Cthulhu: Death may Die #9 Star Spawn @ Dragons of Lancasm – Disgusting. Beautiful. Disgustingly beautiful? Beautifully disgusting? Whatever we land on, this chap looks great.
Codex Orks Review (2026) – Warhammer 40k 11th Edition @ Sprues & Brews – Sprues and Brews reviews the new 11th Edition Ork Codex, praising its cheaper softback format, 90s-style lore expansion, and 15 highly modular detachments, despite the removal of physical Crusade and Combat Patrol rules.
Free League Gives Its Creation More Life @ Refereeing and Reflection – The author of this post breaks down the latest Blade Runner RPG releases, praising Replicant Rebellion and Case File 02 for expanding the system into resistance play with top-tier physical props, despite a minor gap in defection mechanics.
Getting my money’s worth… @ Spalanz – I have a draft, somewhere, that’s similar to this post. The idea of getting one’s money’s worth for a game is interesting. What are we comparing it to? A cinema trip is a common bar. There are definitely games that have cost me £50 or more per hour played, whilst others are down to pennies per hour by now. I’m thinking that games like Isle of Skye falls into the latter category. I’ve read a few posts on this topic over the years, but this one does articulate the issue well.
Commander Bites: Momir Vig, Simic Visionary @ JM Casual – This post breaks down how to pilot Simic’s classic creature-tutoring commander in casual EDH. The post explores leveraging multicolour UG utility creatures to turn Momir Vig into a deck-searching machine. It does also look at the drawbacks, like the card’s high mana cost, fragile 2/2 body, constant deck shuffling, and reliance on fringe win conditions.
